Alan Licht (Official Site) is best known for Text of Light, an intermedia improvisation project he co-founded with Lee Ranaldo in 2001, long-standing duos with Loren Connors and Aki Onda, and a series of solo guitar albums on such labels as XI, Siltbreeze, and Family Vineyard. Licht is the author of Sound Art: Beyond Music, Between Categories (Rizzoli, 2007) and a frequent contributor to Artforum and the Wire.
